Dr. Christopher Brown is the founder of Brown Athletics Consulting and College Recruiting Advisor, providing comprehensive NCAA compliance and recruiting education services to institutions, conferences, and families nationwide.

A former NCAA Associate Director and Division III Commissioner, Brown brings more than a decade of experience shaping policy, resolving complex compliance cases, and guiding institutions through every level of NCAA governance.

At the NCAA national office, he processed high-profile legislative interpretations and helped develop national rules across all three divisions. Later, as Commissioner of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), he led one of the nation’s oldest Division III conferences through major governance, financial, and compliance initiatives.

Brown also served as Associate Commissioner for Governance and Compliance at the Mountain West Conference, where he oversaw NCAA policy implementation for 13 Division I member institutions. His combined institutional, conference, and national office experience gives him a uniquely 360-degree perspective on NCAA operations.

In June 2025, Brown was named Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Student-Athlete Success & Operationsat Colorado College, returning to his home state to lead a multi-divisional compliance program that serves both Division I and Division III sports.

Beyond administration, Brown has contributed to national reform efforts as a consultant for the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and as a lecturer at Boston College, the University of Kansas, Spalding University, and North Central College.

A proud Colorado Springs native, Brown earned his Ph.D. in Sport Management from the University of Kansas, a Master’s in Health and Human Performance from Austin Peay State University, and a Bachelor’s in History from Colorado State University.
